The Warrior Princess

We are a tight-knit community.  The Down syndrome community, that is.  I never knew I wanted to be a member of this exclusive club until I had my Ellie.  I have met many people in person and in the cyber world.  I have "met" an inspiring, beautiful little angel who is 6 years-old.  She is a Warrior Princess and her mother, A Warrior Mom.  This mama bear fought hard to adopt her little girl a few years ago and she is still fighting.  Fighting to make sure that her little Princess receives not only the best love, but also the best medical care.  You see, someone forgot to tell little Aziza that she wasn't supposed to live much past one year of age.

Please read their story at My Sweet Warrior Princess.

Warrior Mom had to quickly become educated and fluent in germ cell tumors, pulmonary agenesis, tracheal stenosis, and now a pulmonary artery sling.  Yes, spunky Aziza is skipping about the world shining light on everyone she meets with her infectious smile all while breathing with a tiny narrow trachea squeezed by her pulmonary artery and one lung.  She is "thriving against all odds".

  1. Wow, wow, wow! Thank you for sharing her blog - what an unbelievable string of diagnoses for that beautiful, spunky little girl! I hope she continues to defy the odds in such grand style!
